BMW Motorrad revealed the Concept RR. This happened at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The event was held on Lake Como. The Concept RR offers a glimpse. It shows future technology and design. This applies to BMW’s next-generation superbike models.
A Bold Statement from BMW Motorrad
Markus Flasch is the head of BMW Motorrad. He made a very bold announcement. “BMW Motorrad has never before given such an early preview,” he stated. This applies to a future generation of RR models. “The BMW Motorrad Concept RR is a true masterpiece,” Flasch said. This is true both technically and in design language. He credits their development team.
Race-Inspired Performance
Flasch further explained the concept. The Concept RR is “guided and inspired.” It takes cues from the BMW M1000RR factory superbike. Factory rider Toprak Razgatlioğlu won the Superbike World Championship last year with this bike. The Concept RR offers “a true fireworks of superlatives.” This applies to both road and race track use.
“Never has the transfer from racing to the street been presented more tangibly,” Flasch added. It shows BMW Motorrad’s leadership goal. They aim to offer the highest engineering level. They also want to provide maximum performance in this segment.
Powerful Engine and Advanced Electronics
The BMW Motorrad Concept RR uses a specific engine. It features the water-cooled four-cylinder in-line engine. This engine comes from the factory superbike. It currently produces over 230 horsepower. Electronic control and regulation systems also come directly from the factory bike. These include engine management. Traction control is also included. Engine brake control is another feature.
Lightweight Design and Aerodynamics
The Concept RR aims for new standards in lightweight construction. It uses innovative manufacturing. High-tech materials are key. Carbon and aluminum are examples. Every detail focuses on lightweight design and performance. This goes from the frame to the smallest part. The design also follows this principle.
It is sharp, purposeful, and expressive. An embossed RR lettering is in the rear. An illuminated RR symbol is on the underside. This is on the delicate aluminum tail.
BMW Motorrad developers focused on aerodynamics. They paid special attention to conflicting goals. These include “riding stability at very high speed.” Another goal is “high cornering speed.” They also sought “low air resistance for high top speed.” BMW aims to achieve these goals in the Concept RR. This is through a compact design. Reduced external attachments also help. Increased precision in air guidance is vital.
Optimized Airflow and Integrated Winglets
Air is precisely guided through the motorcycle’s interior. It flows from the front. It moves to the monolithic, aerodynamically optimized rear. This rear section is also flowed through. The fairing is also aerodynamically optimized. It features integrated winglets.
High-Performance Braking and Future Outlook
BMW also announced high-performance brakes. These are suitable for ambitious supersport use. This spans from the street to professional racing.
A quick look back shows BMW’s history. BMW launched its first superbike, the S1000RR, in 2009. The first M1000RR followed in 2021. Since then, the M1000RR has been updated every two years. The Concept RR points to future production models. BMW’s superbike history will likely continue in 2027.
