Xpeng P7: Wild EV Design & Performance Update

Xpeng P7: Wild EV Design & Performance Update

China’s dynamic electric vehicle (EV) market is constantly evolving, with new models launching at an incredibly rapid pace. Among the latest contenders poised to make a significant impact is the refreshed Xpeng P7 sedan.

This updated model appears ready to intensely challenge popular rivals like the Xiaomi SU7. Recent official photos from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology first revealed the P7. Now, new images and public road sightings show it adorned with flamboyant wraps, signaling Xpeng’s bold design direction.

Daring Design Choices and Exotic Influences

The refreshed Xpeng P7 features a radical design overhaul, hinting at a desire to make a strong statement.

Striking Wraps and Bodywork

Xpeng plans to officially launch the P7 in the third quarter of 2025, allowing time for final refinements. The automaker has dramatically redesigned the P7, making it almost unrecognizable compared to its outgoing model. Whether this bold aesthetic shift resonates with the market remains to be seen. Xpeng clearly intends to make an impression.

One prototype, recently spotted by Weibo users, features a stunning mirror chrome wrap. This eye-catching finish extends across the entire bodywork, even covering the rear window and wheels. Another prototype captured on the road showcases an equally striking matte purple wrap and sports aerodynamic wheel covers.

While it’s uncertain if these specific wraps will be production options, Xpeng has shown a penchant for bold colors in the past, offering a bright green on the outgoing P7 ‘Wing Edition,’ a shade reminiscent of exotic brands like Lamborghini.

Scissor Doors and Carbon-Look Trim

The exotic car influences on the new P7 extend beyond vibrant colors. The updated sedan will come equipped with Lamborghini-inspired scissor doors. It is not yet clear if these will be standard across all trims or exclusive to the flagship model. Additionally, recent photos reveal that the wing mirrors and front air vents can be optioned with a forged carbon fiber design.

While it remains unconfirmed if this is genuine carbon fiber or merely an aesthetic wrap, it undeniably adds a touch of visual flair and a high-performance look to the EV.

Enhanced Performance and Upcoming Debut

The 2025 Xpeng P7 isn’t just about captivating aesthetics; it also brings significant performance upgrades.

Powerful Electric Powertrain

Entry-level versions of the updated P7 will feature a potent 363 horsepower rear-mounted motor. For those seeking more power, the dual-motor version adds an additional 223 horsepower to the front axle. This combined power gives the all-wheel-drive variant a formidable 586 horsepower. Such substantial output should translate into genuinely quick acceleration and dynamic driving experiences.

Official Debut at Guangzhou Auto Show

Buyers won’t have to wait long to see the new Xpeng P7 in person. The vehicle is scheduled to make its official public debut at the highly anticipated Guangzhou Auto Show on November 20, 2025. This will be the first opportunity for the general public and media to get an up-close look at the updated sedan before its market launch.
